This week I’m excited to share another installment of Three Ways. This time, I’m showcasing three ways to style a neutral reading chair—specifically a recliner. Recliners can sometimes be tricky to style so they feel as elevated as they are comfortable, but with a few thoughtful design choices, they can easily become a beautiful focal point in a space.
Way 1: Classic
From the neutral palette to the Roman-inspired art, this look exudes timeless, library-like charm and pairs effortlessly with most carpet and paint colors. When working within a primarily one-color palette, layering textures is key to adding depth and interest—shown here through the soft faux fur throw and a structured pillow.

Way 2: Boho
Relaxed and layered, this look brings a warm, lived-in feel to the space. Details like the fringed ottoman, woven basket with faux grass, and a marble top side table create an easygoing, collected vibe, while a colorful knitted afghan and bright accent pillow add softness and personality. Mixing textures and natural elements is key to achieving this effortlessly styled look.

Way 3: Eclectic
Bold and expressive, this look embraces contrast to create a space full of personality. A tasseled throw, bright accent pillow, and vibrant artwork bring energy, while a classic wood side table grounds the look and adds balance. Mixing old and new pieces is key to creating a space that feels curated rather than chaotic.

Which style speaks to you most?
A few small changes to the décor on and around the recliner can instantly shift the overall vibe of a space. For an even bigger impact, swapping out elements like curtains or surrounding accessories could completely transform the look and feel of the room. I’d love to know—which style are you drawn to most?
